Ride the Dragon’s Backbone.
If twisties are your thing, this ride from east to west Bhutan is your playground. Tear through the Himalayas on roads that curl like dragons—starting in the subtropical lowlands, ripping through bamboo forests, and climbing into the black mountains with rice terraces rolling beside you.

But it’s not all throttle and lean angles—this ride hits the brakes for culture too. Think ancient monuments, rugged museums, and timeless sites that tell Bhutan’s story one curve at a time.

Twist the throttle. Touch the past. Ride Bhutan raw.

AM/PM: Borderline Beginnings.
Touch down in Gauwahati and blaze a 98km trail to the Samdrup Jongkhar Border Gate. After immigration, it’s time to check in and get the keys to your beast—your motorbike for this epic Himalayan ride.

2 hours to cross into a whole new state of mind.

Bikes assigned. Adventure armed. Let’s ride.

AM: Bamboo Roads & Battlefields.
Kickstart your ride through Bhutan’s remote east—winding past sleepy villages and walls of bamboo. Hit pause at Dewathang, once a battlefield, now a silent witness to history. The roads may be smooth, but the stories run deep.

Throttle open. Eyes wide. History rides pillion.

PM: Ride with Purpose.
Stop by the Khaling Institute of the Disabled—a humbling reminder of strength in every form. Then cruise into Tashigang and check into your hotel. Day’s done, but the road still hums under your skin.

180km. 5-6 hours. One epic start.

AM: Short Ride, Big Vibes.
Mount up and roll out for a chilled ride to Mongar—90km of curves, misty hills, and that fresh mountain air hitting just right. It’s a short one, but every twist is worth the throttle.

3 hours. Light on distance, heavy on soul.

PM: Wine, Forts & Local Fire.
Hit the hotel for lunch, then explore Mongar Dzong—modern looks, ancient energy. Cap the day at a local farmhouse where they’re turning corn into wine, old-school style. Fermentation never felt so real.

Ride less. Experience more.

AM: Ride Through the Roof of the East.
Say goodbye to bamboo and sweat—you’re climbing into the clouds. Cross Bhutan’s highest motorable pass at 3,800m, where the air gets thin and the scenery hits different. It’s a full-body ride through shifting climates and mind-bending elevation.

190km. 5 hours. From steamy to sacred.

PM: Sacred Waters & Timeless Temples.
Drop into Bumthang and stop by Mebar Tsho—“The Burning Lake”—where legend meets reflection. Then roll through Kurjey Lhakhang and Jambay Lhakhang, ancient temples that echo with centuries of whispers and warrior monks.

Elevation gained. Spirits lifted. Welcome to Bumthang.

AM: Fields, Forests & the Climb to Pelela.
Throttle up through the sweeping farmlands of Chummey Valley—wide, golden, and quietly majestic. Then it’s into the woods—rhododendrons and magnolias lining the road like a floral army—before you crest the 3,300m Pelela Pass. Nature’s not whispering today—it’s roaring in bloom.

162km. 5 hours. Beauty that bites back.

PM: Descent into Stillness.
Drop into the surreal silence of Phobjikha Valley, a bowl of green cradled by giants. Visit the sacred Gangtey Monastery, where time slows to a monk’s heartbeat. Kick back, breathe deep, and let the quiet hit harder than the throttle.

Ride hard. Land soft. Phobjikha is waiting.

AM: From Shadows to Sun.
Slice through the dark embrace of the Black Mountains and drop into the lush warmth of Punakha. On the way, stop at Chimmi Lhakhang—the Temple of Fertility—where irreverence meets reverence, and legends get weird (in the best way).

78km. 2.5 hours. High to low. Cool to wild.

PM: Forts, Bridges & Freedom.
Hit lunch, then dive into the majestic Punakha Dzong—part fortress, part daydream. Cross Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge like a boss, and let the rest of the afternoon be yours.

You rode here. Now you rest like royalty.

AM: Paddle or Throttle. Your Call.
Kickstart with optional white-water chaos—river rafting if you’re craving a splash of madness. Then mount up and ride to the misty heights of DochuLa Pass at 3,100m, where the 108 stupas crown the clouds. Descend into Thimphu like a legend returning from battle.

74km. 2 hours. Elevation, meditation, acceleration.

PM: Culture Hits Different on Two Wheels.
Step off the saddle and into Bhutanese tradition—explore the School of Arts & Crafts, the National Library, and the Folk Heritage Museum. Cap the day at Tashichhodzong, where the walls breathe royalty and ritual.

From white water to white robes—today covers it all.

AM: Big Buddha Energy & Thimphu Deep Cuts.
Start the day under the watchful gaze of Kuenselphodrang—Bhutan’s Buddha that could bench press a mountain. Then it’s on to the Memorial Chorten, the Takin Zoo (yes, Bhutan’s mythical beast is real), the Textile Museum, and a quick dash through the Craft Bazaar for some handcrafted soul.

It’s not a tour. It’s a cultural beatdown—in the best way.

PM: Wheels to Paro & Freedom to Roam.
Cruise 115km to Paro with the Himalayas riding shotgun. Once you’re there, it’s all yours—wander, breathe, shop, or do absolutely nothing like a pro.

3 hours. History behind you. Freedom ahead.

Full Day: Hike to Tiger’s Nest – Where Legends Hang Off Cliffs.
This isn’t just a hike—it’s a pilgrimage up 900 meters of raw vertical soul. Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) clings to a cliff like it defies physics, because it kind of does. Every step burns, every view stuns, and by the time you reach the top—you’re not the same person who started.

Spiritual cardio. Mythical altitude. Enlightenment with a side of sweat.

Thimphu → Paro: 62km | 1.5hrs
Consider this the calm before the climb.

AM: Relaxation, Reflection, and Final Rides.
Start slow. Hit the spa or just lay back in the rhythm of Paro. Pack up your memories, then stroll through the town one last time—every step soaking in the last drops of Bhutan’s magic.

The calm before the storm of leaving.

PM: A Farewell With Fire & Foam.
End it at Kyichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in Bhutan, where time stands still—and now, so do you. Then, raise a glass at a local beer brewery, where the last taste of Bhutan will be as raw and unfiltered as the adventure itself.

Goodbyes are hard. But this beer is cold.

Hotel Checkout & Departure.
Pack your bags. Pack your memories. Check out of the hotel, but Bhutan stays with you, carved into the bones. The ride’s over, but the echoes of this place? They’ll burn with you long after the wheels stop turning.

You came. You conquered. Now you carry it all.
